We want to thank you for supporting our Y during these past few weeks while we have worked to navigate through unchartered waters. We know that you too have been trying to make the best decisions to keep your family, friends and community safe.
As you can imagine, there may not be a more challenging time to operate a Y than today. Building community is our cause and at the root of that we bring people together – large groups of diverse individuals, strengthen the bonds of community and create the strongest of personal relationships – it’s at the heart of our mission. It’s why we do what we do, and it is why people come to the Y every day.
I am sure you are aware, Governor Ducey announced yesterday a two-week closure of all schools to help further curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus throughout our state. At the Y, our community is who we serve, and as we navigate through these challenging times, we believe today the best w ay we can serve our community is to modify facility operations and programming immediately. As you can imagine this decision is not made lightly but we believe that it is the right thing to do to keep our staff and community safe.
As you know, knowledge regarding COVID-19 evolves with time and recommendations are changing rapidly. We are closely monitoring information from the Arizona Department of Health Services and will follow their prevention guidelines to help keep our communities safe.
