Elizabeth Simmons

Elizabeth Simmons, a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, is a Master’s student and Graduate Teaching Assistant under the instruction of W. Peter Kurau at the Eastman School of Music and is the Horn Intern at the Eastman Community Music School.

During her time at Eastman, Elizabeth has regularly performed with both the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Philharmonia, additionally having the honor of performing Schumann's "Konzertstuck for Four Horns, Op. 86" with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra in November of 2017. She is a member of Flower City Brass, a quintet based in Rochester, New York.

Elizabeth graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where she studied with Kevin Kozak to earn a B.M. in Horn Performance. Before Samford she attended Science Hill High School and was a member of the Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra, where she played principal horn from 2011-2013 and was the winner of the 2013 Joyce Brown Senior Concerto Competition. Her primary teachers were Stephanie Blaha and James Blalock.

Elizabeth joined the staff of Kendall Betts Horn Camp in 2017 and is excited to return in 2019!
