Commissioner's Corner

American, National, Continental and Junior Baseball Managers

The following is a summary of some of the important Little League rules.

(1) Once a pitcher throws 41 pitches in a game, they can no longer play the catcher's position for the rest of the day.

(2) Once a player catches for 4 innings (or any portion of 4 different innings) he cannot pitch for the remainder of the day.

(3) Each player is allowed a maximum number of pitches in a day. These maximums are set by the league age (age as of April 30, 2013) of the pitcher.

13 - 15 year olds: 95 pitches per day
11 & 12 year olds: 85 pitches per day
9 & 10 year olds: 75 pitches per day
7 & 8 year olds: 50 pitches per day

(4) Once a player has pitched, there are mandatory rest periods that must be followed. This rest period is directly related to the number of pitches thrown in the game.

66 or more pitches: 4 calendar days rest
51 - 65 pitches: 3 calendar days rest
36 - 50 pitches: 2 calendar days rest
21 - 35 pitches: 1 calendar day rest
1 - 20 pitches: No rest Required

(5) Junior Division pitchers may pitch in 2 games on a given day as long their pitch count was below 31 pitches in the 1st game.

(6) Composite bats are now prohibited in ALL Baseball Divisions..
For a detailed explanation, and a list of approved bats, please refer to the link below.

*** T-BALL Division ***

The T-Ball division is for all our 5 year old players. T-Ball teaches fundamentals in an extremely enjoyable atmosphere. Special coaching help from the Boonton and Mountain Lakes high school baseball and softball teams make T-Ball a special experience for our youngsters.

The 2013 T-Ball Division will open its season in late April.

All T-Ball sessions are held at our Fanny Road complex and runs from 11:00 - 1:00 each Saturday.

*** ROOKIES Baseball Division ***

The Rookies division is our primary division for all of our 6 year olds. Building upon the lessons learned in T-Ball, Rookie players will transition from hitting off a tee to learning to hit pitched balls from their coach.

In addition to hitting skills, our Rookie players will be taught game fundamentals and will begin to play actual games.

The 2013 Rookie Division will begin play in mid-April.

All Rookie practices and games are held at the School Street School field in Boonton.

*** FARM Baseball Division ***

The Farm division is our primary division for all of our 7 year olds. The Farm division is also the home to all 8 year olds who may need a bit more seasoning before they advance to the more competitive Continental Division. Building upon the lessons learned in Rookies, our Farm players transition from coach pitch, to actual player pitch later in the season.

In addition to hitting skills, our Farm players will be taught advanced game fundamentals and will play more actual games.

The 2013 Farm Division will begin play in mid-April.

All Farm practices and games are held at the John Hill School fields in Boonton.

*** CONTINENTAL Baseball Division ***

The Continental division is comprised primarily of 8 and 9 year olds as well as some 10 year olds who require an additional year before moving into the next division.

Continental is the first level utilizing umpires, standings and playoffs.

The 2013 Continental Division will open its season in early April.

Most Continental games and practices will be held on Pitcher field or Scerbo field at our Fanny Road complex.

*** NATIONAL Baseball Division ***

The National division is the primary division for our 10 year olds. The National is also heavily populated with 11 year olds and a few exceptional 9 year olds. By far the most diverse division by age, the National is a very competitive environment that provides a unique opportunity for our developing pitchers who might not be ready to face the rigors of the American division.

The 2013 National Division will open its season in early April.

Most National games and practices will be held either on Scerbo field at our Fanny Road complex or Pepe field in Boonton.

*** AMERICAN Baseball Division ***

The American Division is comprised of all our 12 year olds and Tri-Town's most skilled 11 year olds. The American division also provides a limited opportunity for several of our very talented 10 year olds to play some games as "call ups".

This is by far our most competitive division. Some 12 year old players may not be ready for this level of competition. If you feel you are not ready for the rigors of the American Division, please contact the League about being placed in the National Division. The enjoyment and safety of our players is our top priority.

The 2013 American Division will open its season in early April.

Most American games and practices will be held on Pepe field in Boonton, however, away games at other District 1 towns is expected.

*** JUNIOR Baseball Division ***

The Junior Division is comprised of all Tri-Town's 13, 14 and 15 year old players. Played on a 90' diamond, The Junior division plays an intra-league schedule as well as an inter-league schedule with the other Little Leagues in Morris county.

The 2013 Junior Division will open its seaso in mid-April.

Most Jr. Baseball games and practices will be held at the RFL Baseball field in Boonton Township, however, away games at other District 1 towns is expected.
