Commissioner's Corner

American, National, Continental and Junior Baseball Managers

2010 has brought us further changes to the pitching rules.

(1) Once a pitcher throws 41 pitches in a game, they can no longer play the catcher's position for the rest of the day.

(2) Each player is allowed a maximum number of pitches in a day. These maximums are set by the league age (age as of April 30, 2010) of the pitcher.

13 - 15 year olds: 95 pitches per day
11 & 12 year olds: 85 pitches per day
9 & 10 year olds: 75 pitches per day
7 & 8 year olds: 50 pitches per day

(3) Once a player has pitched, there are mandatory rest periods that must be followed. This rest period is directly related to the number of pitches thrown in the game.

66 or more pitches: 4 calendar days rest
51 - 65 pitches: 3 calendar days rest
36 - 50 pitches: 2 calendar days rest
21 - 35 pitches: 1 calendar day rest
1 - 20 pitches: No rest Required

To prevent any confusion, each manager will email (TritownLL@Aol.com) with the following information for each game. This information will be posted on this web site scores.

*** T-BALL Division ***

The T-Ball division is for all our 5 year old players. T-Ball teaches fundamentals in an extremely enjoyable atmosphere. Special coaching help from the Boonton and Mountain Lakes high school baseball and softball teams as well as a guest appearances from Spiderman, make T-Ball a special experience for our youngsters.

The 2010 T-Ball Division will open its season in late April.
All T-Ball sessions are held at our Fanny complex and runs from 11:00 - 1:00 each Saturday.

*** BANTAM Baseball Divisions ***

The Bantam divisions are for all our 6 to 8 year old players. The Bantam Baseball program is split in 3 divisions to provide a more enjoyable experience for our youngsters while better serving the varied ages and skill levels within the Bantam division.

Primarily, Bantam I consists of our 6 year olds, Bantam II our 7 year olds and Bantam III our 8 year olds. However, each child is evaluated to determine in which division they will best be served and will enjoy the most. Those 8 year olds who have developed sufficiently will be placed in the Continental division.

The Bantam I, Bantam II & Bantam III divisions provide the needed training to bridge the gap between T-Ball and the Continental division.

All three Bantam divisions began play in early April.

*** CONTINENTAL Baseball Division ***

The Continental division is comprised primarily of 9 year olds. Continental also contains a number of highly developed 8 year olds and some 10 year olds who require an additional year before moving into the next division.

Continental is the first level utilizing umpires, standings and playoffs.

The 2010 Continental division season begins in early April.

*** NATIONAL Baseball Division ***

The National division is the primary division for our 10 year olds. The National is also heavily populated with 11 year olds and a few exceptional 9 year olds. By far the most diverse division by age, the National is a very competitive environment that provides a unique opportunity for our developing pitchers who might not be ready to face the rigors of the American division.

The 2010 National division season begins in early April.

*** AMERICAN Baseball Division ***

The American Division is our most competitive division. Comprised entirely of 12 year olds and Tri-Town's most skilled 11 year olds, the American division also provides an opportunity for several of our very talented 10 year olds.

The 2010 American division season begins in early April.

*** JUNIOR Baseball Division ***

The Junior Division is comprised of all Tri-Town's 13, 14 and 15 year old players. Played on a 90' diamond, The Junior division plays an intra-league schedule as well as an inter-league schedule with the other Little Leagues in Morris county.

The 2010 Junior division season begins in mid April.
