Sports Express Softball is proud to welcome you to this years tournament. Over the past six years the Sports Express Kick-Off Classic has become one of the area's premier, early-season tournaments. This is due to great sponsors, great facilities, great umpires and the participation of highly competitive teams like yours. 2008 Kick-off Classic Rules


1. This is an ASA sanctioned tournament. ASA Registered officials will be used. This is a non-protest tournament. All UIC and umpire decisions are final. Team and individual awards will be given to 1st & 2nd place in all divisions.

2. In the event of rain, the Tournament Director reserves the right to modify schedules to determine the champions. If rain threatens, games may be shortened by time or innings.

3. In pool play a tie remains a tie. 10 run rule after 3 innings, 9 run rule after 4 innings, 8 run rule after 5 innings. Any pool game called by an umpire for weather is a complete game after 3 completed innings, score reverts back to the last complete inning unless the home team is batting and has the lead.

4. There is a 75-minute time limit on all games. . No new inning will begin after time expires, finish the inning. Ties are allowed in pool play. International Tie-Breaker will be used in Championship play.

5. You must be at the playing field 1 hour before game time, and ready to play. Line-up cards shall exchange no later than 30 minutes prior to the start time. A coin flip will determine home team.

The home team's scorebook will be the official scorebook unless they request the visitors to be official scorebook. Game time clock starts with the first warm-up pitch. Be prepared to take the field at game time. No warm-ups on the infield. Please record the official starting time in each of the scorebooks, check the score and time after each inning. Upon the completion of the game please make sure the umpire has the accurate score and results. The home team must turn in the score to the Tournament Director immediately after the game. The results will be posted on the Official Tournament Website.

6. All teams, officials, players, umpires and spectators participating in this tournament do so at their own risk. Tournament officials and facility sponsors are not responsible for any injuries sustained as part of this tournament.

7. All teams need to check in 1 hour prior to playing their first game. Teams will be able to check in at Welch Park. Please have the following items when checking in:
a. (2) NEW ASA Approved Leather Optical Yellow 47 .COR softballs
b. Where you are staying and a phone number where you can be reached.
c. Binder with player information and proof of player insurance.

8. Tournament seeding on Saturday will be determined by win/loss record from pool play. The tiebreaker will be, A) least runs allowed, B) most runs scored and C) a coin flip. In the event that the tournament is not completed due to weather, the above formula will be used to determine the Champion and Runner-up in each age division. Only completed rounds by all teams in the division will count.

9. Please warm up in designated areas only. These areas are beyond the dugouts down the outfield lines or behind the outfield fence or by the Elementary School. At the completion of the game, please clean out the dugout and surrounding fan areas.

10. A continuous batting line-up may be used. All players would bat in order and any nine girls may play defense. Free substitution on defense at any time with continuous batting. Players can be added or removed due to injury, early departure or late arrival. OR, you may play with a regular nine batters with the DP option. Once the game begins, you may not switch back and forth. You may play with 7 players (NO AUTOMATIC OUTS) if you are short players. If batting continuous, the courtesy runner for pitcher, catcher, or injury is the previous batter NOT already on base. 10& U home plate is open.

11. Concessions will be available at Welch Park Complex Snack Bar. Thank you for supporting our concessions. The drinking of alcoholic beverages at Welch Park is illegal. VIOLATORS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE COMPLEX FOR THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT AND THE MILFORD POLICE WILL BE SUMMONED.
