If you cannot attend but would like to help, contact Ed Ampe, 763-424-8514.11/08/2005 8:32:14 PM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHY DIDN'T 10U HAVE UMPIRES FOR EVERY GAME? Coaches were told at the beginning of the season that we were trying to hire 4-5 umpires to cover the 10U games. This was enough to cover most games early in the season, but not in June. Coaches were informed that if there wasn't an umpire, teams would have to supply a parent umpire. Several years ago, ALL 10U GAMES were umpired by parents. WHY WAS THERE A TWO WEEK BREAK BETWEEN THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON AND THE TOURNAMENT? Due to the 4th of July holiday and the USSSA State Softball Tournament that is played the 2nd weekend of July, we push the tournament to the 3rd weekend in July. Some teams had games up until July 12. We also use this last week for makeup games if there were any rainouts. Also, soccer practice is usually starting this same week. The BPAA Tournament could be held prior to the July 4th holidy weekend, but we would have to reduce the number of games played. WHY ISN'T THE WEBSITE KEPT MORE CURRENT WITH GAME SCORES? The system we are using doesn't allow coaches or parents to update game scores. We rely on coaches to phone or e-mail the games scores to the age group commissioner. They in turn pass on the scores to the scheduler who updates the scores and posts them to the web. This can take several days and some coaches must be called for game scores. Game scores can be e-mailed to League Scheduler. OUR CATCHERS HELMET WAS TOO SMALL! Coaches are informed to contact the equipment manager if the equipment does not meet the teams needs (too big/too small). Some teams may need two helmets in order to allow multiple girls to play the catcher position. WHY CAN'T YOU BUY UNIFORMS THAT FIT? In order to get a good price on the uniforms and hold the costs down, we normally order our team uniforms by the first of the year. We try to order 14-15 uniforms per team of varying sizes. Unfortunately some teams either have many smaller girls or some with bigger girls. Because you can put a small girl in a bigger jersey but not the other way around, we tend to order larger jerseys. Uniforms could be fitted at sign-ups, but since we don't have teams finalized until around April 1st, there wouldn't be enough time to get uniforms ordered for the girls, get them numbered and delivered prior to the first game for the younger divisions. This would also add $3-5 per jersey by ordering this late. It would also force everyone to come in to sign-ups instead of allowing mail-in registrations. JUST A REMINDER: THIS IS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. WE DO THE BEST WE CAN WITH THE HELP THAT WE HAVE. IF YOU FEEL SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING AS WELL AS IT SHOULD, WE URGE YOU TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS ORGANIZATION BETTER! |
