WELCOME TO ALL TEAMS, COACHES, PLAYERS AND PARENTS:
Greetings to all teams - coaches, players, parents and fans. Thank you for choosing the 2008 Indiana Heat July 4th event. This is the 12th year that the Heat has been promoting this event, which started in 1996 with one division and four teams in Bloomington, Indiana.
This year, we have six (6) divisions, over forty (40) teams and fields located at four (4) complexes in three (3) cities - Bloomington, Plainfield and Shelbyville, Indiana.
Please take this time to review a few important matters for this event:
1) Tournament Forms - All teams must turn in at "check-in", which is one (1) hour before each team's first game, all required tournament forms - which include: Waiver/Release Roster (with parent signatures) and Hotel/Emergency Contact Form.
2) Tournament Rules - Each team must review our Tournament Rules, which are located on the Indiana Heat website and as posted at various locations around the tournament site.
a. Gate/Admissions - The Heat charges a gate/admissions at all locations, where 9U - 14U Divisions are played. The admissions are for the day, regardless of how many games are played in that day. For purposes of this event, the admissions at Twin Lakes, Bloomington South and Plainfield will be $ 4.00 per day per adult / $ 3.00 per day / student / 65 and older and 7 and under are free. There are no refunds.
b. Rain Hotline - In the unfortunate event we may have rain, you will be able to obtain updates on the game times and any tournament revisions as follows: i. Updates on the Heat website - go to the Tournament Schedule for your age division.
ii. Updates will be posted on the Heat office phone - 812.339.0853.
iii. Our staff will contact the Head Coaches - who submit a Hotel/Emergency Contact Form. You should list the top three individuals (with cell phone numbers) to call for updated information.
c. 2 New Baseballs - Each team is required to provide the home plate umpire with two (2) new baseballs prior to the start of each game. In the event additional balls must be used, each team shall provide as many "good used balls" necessary to complete the game. Any balls left at the end of the game, will be split equally between the teams.
d. Extra Hitter / Designated Hitter - Each team (9U - 14U) may use an extra-hitter, if they elect to do so. You must announce the use of an extra hitter prior to the start of each game. Teams in the 14U - 16U Divisions may use a "Designated Hitter." The 14U Division cannot use both.
e. Home Team - Each team shall flip prior to the start of each "pool" game to determine who is home and visitor. In the championship round, the higher seed shall "always" be home.
f. No outside food or drink-Each field will provide some form of concessions. As such, there will be no outside food or drink permitted.
3) Game Summaries - For this event, we are attempting to use a new procedure, which involves each team completing a Game Summary Form at the completion of each game. This will allow our organization to post information about top player performances of the tournament as we update scores throughout this event. Please complete your form and submit it to the On-Site Coordinator at each field.
a. Photos/Team Pictures - Please feel free to forward the Heat (via e-mail) your team photographs and/or other top photos of this event, as we will want to post as many of those items on our website both during and after the event.
Once again, thanks for attending our event and we hope you have an excellent time. Happy July 4th weekend and God Bless!
