The Louisiana Youth Coaches Alliance and Louisiana Youth Football welcomes you to the 2005 Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series, Quest For The Mayor's Cup.

Saturday, December 10th, while the eyes of College Football fans focused on New York & the Heisman Race and the eyes of High School Football fans were focused on Shreveport & the LHSAA Nokia Sugar Bowl Prep Championships, Youth Football fans witnessed history in the making at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge. Over 1,000 youth football fans witnessed the fruits of a magnificent season of competitive football from over 1044 student athletes, 44 teams, and over 300 volunteers. This historical event will forever be known as the Inaugural Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series, Quest For The Mayor's Cup. The day was filled with the pageantry & showmanship comparable to the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, & Orange Bowl, including the parades thanks to the annual Gus Young and CADAV Christmas Parades.

Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series, Quest For The Mayor's Cup did not just offer a championship football atmosphere; it also shined a bright light on academic excellence with recognition ceremonies for 142 student athletes who maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In an age driven by numbers, these numbers were the highlight of our inaugural season & our championship series. These numbers will be used as our benchmark for future growth in our academic programs.

The 2005 Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series, Quest For The Mayor’s Cup championship results are as follows:

Division A: 7-8

Champions: Baton Rouge Bears

Division AA: 9-10

Champions: Scotlandville Sports Academy Hornets

Division AAA: 11-12

Responsibility; Goal Setting; Sportsmanship; Self Control; Smart Decisions; Teamwork; Leadership; Perseverance;Pride; Honor; Trust.

Louisiana Youth Coaches Alliance has started our initiatives to improve the quality of life by partnering with BREC to enhance the quality of the Junior Tackle Football program offered to the East Baton Rouge Parish communities. The restructured program formed from this partnership is called the Louisiana Youth Football. In our inaugural season, we have 44 registered teams, approximately 1100 registered youth (ranging from 7 yrs old to 13 yrs old), and approximately 300 volunteer coaches. These numbers are impressive, even for established youth activities; so we are excited about our accomplishments thus far and delighted to share this with the citizens of Baton Rouge & Louisiana.

Louisiana Youth Football inaugural season's culmination will be the Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series, Quest For The Mayor's Cup. This championship series is a playoff system designed to determine our league champions for all age groups (Division A: 7-8, Division AA: 9-10, Division AAA: 11-12). The championship trophy at stake in this quest for excellence is named the Mayor's Cup in honor of our newly elected Mayor Melvin "Kip" Holden, the first black mayor of Baton Rouge.

During this event, we will also recognize the Louisiana Youth Football All State Academic Team. Any student athlete who maintained a 3.0 or better GPA during the season will be named to the Louisiana Youth Football All State Academic Team for each division. These student athletes will be nominated by their coach for consideration. An official report card or progress report must accompany the nomination. These Louisiana Youth Football All State Academic Teams will be recognized during halftime of each championship game.
